Today 4 years ago Lane & Eliza were born! What a crazy day it was at that! They were born on a Friday however the Monday before my doctor tried to induce me. I was at the hospital all day on pitocin and contracting but with nothing happening. So he sent me home. I was to come in on Wednesday and Friday for a stress test to make sure everything was going well with the twins. On Friday I went in for my test. Jeanne my friend came with me to make the time go by faster. When the test was done I had Joe meet us up at the hospital cause we were starving so we all went out to eat. Joe went to go pay the bill while I got Emma ready to leave. I stood up and all of a sudden there was a GUSH! Oh yeah, you know what happened. My water broke. I was in shock. With Emma the Dr had to break my water so I was a bit surprised. In the MIDDLE of the restaurant. I looked at Jeanne and she starts laughing. I say my water broke and she starts laughing harder. Joe comes back and I tell him my water broke and he says, "What do you want me to do about it? Break a pickle jar!" I didn't think he was funny AT ALL! I told him to get a rag or SOMETHING!!! My sisters joke is that if your water breaks in a grocery store you should grab a pickle jar and drop it... The waitress came in right about then and said that it was okay that she'd take care of it. I seriously didn't want to move fearing that there would be more gushing. So I waddle out of the restaurant. We go home and on the way drop Emma off at a friends house. I take a shower get a bag ready and about a hour or so later we head off to the hospital. I'm still not having contractions or anything so I didn't feel rushed AT ALL. Just a little excited and a little nervous.
I hang out until the anesthesiologist comes to put my IV in. That was part of the deal on Monday when I left. The nurse's that tried to put the IV in on Monday SUCKED and it took 4 tries and a bunch of digging to get it. So I told my doc that I would only leave if I could have an anesthesiologist put it in when I came back! They start me on pitocin and by about 9ish I start having some good contractions. At 10:30ish the Dr asks if I have the feeling to push, I say no and a couple of seconds later change my mind. They take me to the c-section room (just in case) and finally 2 pushes and 10 minutes later Lane was born. Eliza was not so easy. In fact she was a stinker. With loads of pushing and shoving and tyring to turn her to no avail her shoulder was stuck and she wouldn't budge. So they did a c-section with her. The best of both world or not so much. Lane was born at 10:58 pm and Eliza was born at 11:59 pm. One second shy of being born on 2 different days. Lane was 7lbs 4oz and Eliza was 6lbs 15oz. That's 14 lbs 3 oz of baby that I had been caring around. No wonder my syatic nerve was going ballistic. I can't even imagine women that have triplets or more!!! Later at one of my follow up appointments my doctor informed me that I was built to have twins! They were 9 days early... My due date was May 2nd.
This is Lane & Daddy!

Happy Birthday Twins!!! Great picutres!!
Happy Birthday to them!!! Its John's birthday too.
That's quite a story!! I feared my water breaking while I was in public...guess it has to happen to someone! hee!
Happy birthday to your precious twins!
I got tears on the third picture. They are just so darn cute. Wow, you went along time with twins. Usually they come so early. Are you having anymore babies that you might use that body thats built for twins. hehe I cant believe you went and took a shower and got ready to go, with twins hanging there and water broke. Thats a good idea about the pickle jar. hehe. Thanks for sharing.
Oh and it would have been sad to have different birthdays, or maybe happy, it could go both ways. You would of had to have to different days although it sounds like you do two different cakes ect for them anyway. Thats a lot of work. Your a great mom.
Quite some picture of yourself at the top. Those children are adorable.
Sounds like an eventful day. They are relly cute. Think about when they were born are you ever amazed at the fact you made it through the first year?
Oh my goodness! It would have been so cool to have twins with separate birthdays! But I can't imagine the joy of doing it both ways all in one day - AGGGhhhh! But even with recovery, I bet you felt better three days later than when you were pregnant! (I always go home from the hospital ready to tackle my 9 month mess, because I'm so glad not to be pregnant anymore!)
WOW!! You did great! They were both a great size for twins. Sorry to hear you had to have a C-section with Eliza. I loved all the pictures, so cute to see them as babies :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LANE AND ELIZA!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THEM! awesome story! too bad they didn't have two separate days that would have been too cool! love all the older pictures! SO FUN! and OY! i never want twins. becuase of the delivery! it scares the crud out of me! YIKES! and sore in both places. NO FUN!
well i'm sure they are fun now, and still a handful but super cute! hope you all had a fab day!
That last picture... THAT is beautiful.
And to think I complained about having a baby that was 9.8 pounds... YOU WIN.
Happy Birthday sweet little ones.
I know it is ridiculous, but these "growing up/birthday" posts and pics always make me want to cry. What the heck happened to me?!?! (Maybe having J did this to me!--ick, side effects of mommyhood).
They are ADORABLE!! Happy Birthday and congrats mom--you did a great, great job!
Holy cow, that's a lot of baby! Your kids are beautiful! Happy Birthday to them!!
They are SO cute !! & you are a freaking Wonder Woman! Seriously, you amaze me! I can barely carry ONE baby without it just falling out at about 26 weeks. You rock! Good Job! & a C-section & vag, holy cow you are my hero! Or you just deserve something pretty!!
Happy Birthday Kiddo's. They are adorable and I love all the fun pics. These little ones sure grow up fast.
I admire anyone who has twins. I could barely move with one. Ü
Happy Early Birthday to Lane and Eliza. The blessing picture is so cute. I still can't believe you had 14 plus pounds of baby in there. WHEW! And that they missed being born on different days by a minute is pretty amazing!
Holy crap your kids are so dang cute!!! Okay first of all I always have wanted a set of twins of my very own, but I wanted them to be born on different days. How crazy would that be. Do you kind of with they had been born on different days or are you happy that they were born the same day?
I've never heard about breaking a pickle jar and that is all to funny! ha ha!
Happy Birthday little ones!
Wow, what a story! Happy Birthday Kiddos!
They are so cute!
I've always wondered what it would be like to have twins... it seems so fun to me!
so cute! I remember when I had ar ir inside of me, I needed somebody to pull me when I wanted to stand up.
thank god I only needed to do some pushes to let them out. only 6 minutes apart.
love the pictures!!
I love labor stories. They are so cute!
I love love love you new header. Email me the size you made it.
I loved reading their birth story. At first it sounded like everything was going so well.... but a vaginal birth and a c-section is NOT fun at all.
Good job!
Happy 3rd birthday to your twins. I guess I never realized my girls were older than you twins.
Great post!
Opps I read it wrong. Happy Birthday to your twins. They are older than my girls. Not much though...
Happy birthday to your big kids! Thanks for sharing your story! and your picture!
I was surprised when you said you went home after your water broke! I'm trying to figure out the pickle jar joke.
Happy Birthday kids!
