Growing up my mom made the best brownies! They're so good. I made them today for our Movie night with the kids... Joe was studying with some buddies so the kids watched Hannah Montana and I finished up my quilt blocks. Anytime Hannah Montana would sing the 3 little ones would get up and start dancing around. I tried to get it on video but as soon as I pulled the camera out they would stop! Livvy was so funny shaking her boodie and going to town! So here's a picture and the recipe for the Brownies... They're more of a cakey brownie, very moist and all around yummy! They're VERY similar to Rachel's Chocolate Sheet cake...
Brownies In small bowl mix together and then set aside:
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
In saucepan combine and heat until 1st bubble appears:
2 cubes margarine
3 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa
1 cup water
Remove from heat & with electric beater; Mix in 1/2 cup buttermilk, flour mixture & 2 eggs. Pour into greased & floured pan 12x18 pan. Bake @ 350 for 20 minutes.
FROSTING:
In same saucepan put 1 cube of butter, 3 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa, 1/3 cup regular milk. Heat until 1st bubble appears. Remove from heat, beat in 1 lb. pkg powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 cup chopped nuts. Spread on brownies while hot.
Almonds are really good with this but taste better when toasted you can toast then for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. We've also made it with Pecans and walnuts and all are good. :)
When I do mine I just put all the dry ingredients in my kitchen aid and then after it's heated up to that 1st bubble I start the mixer and then pour in the liquid parts! It works great!
This is the block we did on Tuesday... I liked the way Rachel's and Bridget's turned out better than mine!

I remember those brownies! They're almost as good as my mom's "Mississippi Mud" brownies! :)
that brownies looks delicious!
and the quilt: I know that pink is nice combined with blue and yellow. I never thought dark brown will make them better, but I've changed my mind. you did great.

I have one but it's not the same one that your mom used to make!
I just happened onto your blog (not even sure how now!) but I LOVE your template. Where did you get it and how do you get that great font?? I have only been doing this for a month now, but this is the cutest blog I have seen! I would love any info you are willing to share! Thanks for the browine recipe. Mmm....I can almost taste them now!
Oh, it was from 2 Kids and Tired's blog. ☺
Oh goodness--all these amazingly gifted bloggers. I've printed out your recipe and am thinking I need to take up quilting.
Blog hopped--and fell in love with your header. Your little ones are so adorable. Their smiles are to die for!
Right on girl! It's easy- the bottom layer is brownies, the middle layer is marshmallow cream, and the top is chocolate frosting. But seriously, your mama's are super good.

Oh you rock girl!!! That sounds like my moms Texas Sheet Cake recipe!! YUMMY!
How on EARTH do you have energy to do all this? Maybe my twins will actually SIT one day or even dance to a song so I can do something. Right now, I have to be on top of them every second. EVERY SECOND! UGH!
The chicken and dumplings look yummy. The brownies look yummy. I think I need to come eat at your house! {too bad you live so far away!
