Our night time ritual is long and drawn out and not my favorite part of the day... well the after effects are... as in kids are all asleep and I get some peace and quiet for a couple of hours but other than that all of the whining, tooth brushing, getting a drink and going potty and FINALLY getting into bed drives me a little loony...
Isn't she cute? Just watch out if she can't find one of her many toys before she goes to bed!!! I supposed it doesn't just have to be one of her toys it could be one of Lane's or Eliza's, for that matter! Like this batman... It doesn't look like much in this picture but look just below this one...

Yeah this is what you couldn't see in the first picture! This is her montage of toys! It looks like a graveyard of toys! The little basket full of Lane's cars... Her cupcake purse my sister made her for Christmas... Emma's Strawberry Shortcake & Gingersnap... Liv's pooh bear, snoopy and of course a couple of babies!

Eliza isn't so bad she usually has her Green Patta Bear with a band aid on her paw that she got from a really nice nurse in Oregon... And recently she's had her pink leopard cat and sometimes a little mickey mouse... Eliza isn't too picky as long as she has one of these... She's got them under her blanket in the picture you can see a tiny bit of mickey under her left arm...

Lane isn't too picky either. It just has to be a toy... Usually the first toy her sees as he's walking into his room. Tonight it just happened to be this little sign that has a bush on it from a tractor set that my sister got him for Christmas. He'll also usually have his big mickey laying next to him and the rabbit is just a stray it could stay or go and he wouldn't really care. Lane got this Elephant for Christmas it was 88 cents. I should have just got him a bunch of plastic animals and he'd be happy!

Finally last night I got her to put her animals up by her head and she liked it much better! She said she slept much better! Go figure!

I am going to start working M to TH nights from 5pm to 8pm caring for an elderly lady. Anyway, Kevin has been home since we had hte kids at night but does he know the routine? I think not. so tonight we had a family meeting to write down how the night should go. We moved it out a bit so instead of them going to bed by 8 it will now be 8:30 so I can be here for the end which is prayer and I will read them each a story in their own beds. Well see how it goes. staying on track at that time of night is a must. So I can walk in and tuck them in moreless and have them go to sleep asap. I wish my kids would take something to bed and entertain themselves or something. anything, just sleep all night!!!
That is so funny how they all have to have the toys to sleep with. My 7 year old does have a bunch of "friends" that he sleeps with, but at least they're all stuffed and most of them can stay at the foot of his bed. Kids are funny.
That is really cute...They want company!
My son, Kevin, usually has a stuffed animal or two with him at night...and he's 10! My brother also loved one toy in particular...his miniature Pound Puppy! It was one of those promotional things from a fast food restaurant when we were little. He still has it...in a special case...and he's 25!
Laura :)
Come on Melissa, you still sleep with your Care Bear and My Little Pony doll.
some of my kids do this too. Joy has to layer her blankets in just the right order, tuck in, have her crap lined up and finally her music on. she is the worst here.
lucky for me DAD usually puts her to bed and deals with her madness.
You are a patient woman. By the time bedtime arrives my kids all know they had better hurry and no screwing around because mom turns into a not nice person, if they push it! But at least they are all old enough (finally) to do all the teeth brushing, potty stuff by themselves first, then we just meet for prayer and I tuck them in.
They are all cute though and look happy to go to bed! A.
My 5 year old does this and it drives me crazy!!
I dread the bed time ritual too. But all worth it in the end right?! Just like all the comments, my boys have their stuffed animals and special blankets they have to sleep with too. I'm usually searching the house for my four years blanket at bed time since he doesn't leave it in his bed. Sometimes I make him go without it thinking he will learn some day. Nope!
LOL! Are there supposed to be kids in there somewhere? ;)
I hate the night time wars. I never had any problems until the second one came along - that child will NOT go to sleep!!
I have one who will rarely sleep in his bed. I'd give him any amount of stuff, just to have him out of my bed. I guess I should have let him stay in his crib as long as he wanted.
Post a picture of that cupcake purse! Sounds like something I'd love to make! I'm thinking of ideas already.
Very often we have to clean Hope's bed out to actually make room for Hope...how weird is that...can you imagine rolling over on one of those things in your sleep? No thanks!
Ar would need Ir as Ir needs Ar. I need Dan and Dan needs me. and Ibit... well she has some to hug :D
I don't know how they sleep with all those toys either. I remember when I was younger I tried to sleep with a stuffed toy, but it always ended up getting kicked onto the floor.
