♥ Emma's finger...

Emma hurt her middle finger at practice on Monday. One of the girls threw the ball at her and she jammed it pretty good. In the picture the hand on the right is the one that got hurt if you can't tell. It's pretty swollen and bruised. I couldn't get a very good picture of the bruise but it's on top and underneath. She can't bend it much and the skin is really tight from the swelling. Joe even had her ice it for a while yesterday and it didn't seem to help.

This morning I looked at it and saw all the bruising so I thought I'd better ask Joe what he thought about it. He had maybe 2 hours of sleep, this was the conversation:

Me: "Hon, Emma's finger is really swollen and bruised on top and under her finger. Do you think it could be broken?"

Joe: "Uh huh." Nodding his head yes and looking right at me eye's open and all.

Me: "Do you think I should take her in to have it checked?"

Joe: "Uh huh." Nodding again and lifting his head off the pillow.

When we get home from the appointment and Joe gets up I tell Joe it's not broken they did an x-ray. Joe looks at me like I'm crazy and says "You took her in?"

I say, "Yeah, you told me I should."

Joe: "No I didn't."

So then I had to relay the conversation that we had, obviously he was sleep talking... So I took her in for a useless appointment all for them to say it's not broken and to tape her finger up!

Co-pay.. $20.00

3 inches of tape... $50.00 (J/K)

x-rays... $100.00 (I'm not sure but I hope not)

I've learned my lesson and won't be asking expensive questions to Joe when he's lacking in the sleep department unless it's of course to spend money on scrapbook stuff or something... :)

LOL!! I love your last comment!! You should definetly try that one some time.

That bruise does looks pretty nasty. Sometimes it's hard to know what to do and going to the doctor gives us peace of mind. Although the bills are no FUN!! Loved your prices too. Your a riot :)

Yup- I've done the sleeping conversation before. Gotta love a sleepy man. Hope Emma can still go to practice and that it doesn't hurt to long!

Too funny! That reminds me of when my water broke in the middle of the night. I said, "honey I think my water broke" and he said, "Ok, call the hospital." And rolled over and went back to sleep.

Was he sleep talking? Wow! I guess it is better to be safe than sorry though by taking Emma in. Hope the finger feels better soon.

It does look pretty sore! I probably would have taken her in as well. I like the idea about asking for the stuff you want when he is like that.

Poor Emma! That is no fun. That is funny about Joe. Yes you should only ask him questions you benefit from when he is like that.

That's the best time to ask the husband things like, "Can I buy this really cute dress I saw yesterday?" or "Will you come home early from work tomorrow?"

Ouch! Sometimes jams/sprains hurt as bad as breaks!
Funny on the conversation. We've definitely had some sleepy, forgotten conversations in this house, too!
