♥ Summer Schedule!

This summer we're trying a "daily schedule" thing... I'm hoping it will make life easier for us (ME)! We have a morning chore chart and the kids have to do what's with their name for 10 minutes... If they don't finish that's fine but they have to work work work hard for the whole 10 minutes or they get their time started over!

Today was our "official" first day of summer so we started and I have to say they all did a fabulous job. Emma had the bathroom done in just under 10 minutes. Lane needed a little prodding, Eliza need a TON of help she was my biggest pain in the butt. I didn't want to start her time over right off because I want her to realize that 10 minutes isn't very long so I'm thinking her first week we'll stick with the 10 and then after that she'll have to start it over if she messes around like she did today. Olivia did great.

This is our "daily schedule"!
8:00 -- Breakfast
8:30 -- 10 minutes (chores)
9:00-11:00 -- Playtime (outside)
11:30 -- Lunch
12:00 – 2:00 -- Quiet/Reading Time
2:00 – 4:00 -- Playtime (outside)
4:00 – 5:30 -- Movie Time
5:30 – 6:30 -- Dinner
6:30 -- 15 minutes Clean Up the front area before bed!

Of course I realize that it isn't always going to be this exact schedule, like if I need to go grocery shopping one day and I'm looking into the library summer reading stuff but all in all it will be nice to have something to go off of and at least the kids know what I expect of them... and hopefully it'll cut back on the fighting. We'll see! As for today it's gone pretty smooth minus the Eliza meltdown! :)

This is a fabulous idea. I like your schedule. Even if it is hard to stick to you still have it there to go back to. It is great to have a plan.

Great idea, no t-ball or softball or baseball games in the evening?
That's what my nights are filled with. I just wish we could have a summer schedule, we're still in school until June 4th.
One thing we try to do is park day. We take a pinic lunch and find a new park to play out around the valley.
Good luck!

Good for you! I love schedules even though we don't always follow them it is always nice to have something to fall back on. After I get done with the garage sale this weekend, I am going to work on our summer schedule!

I think a schedule is a great idea.
We all need a little structure in our lives.

Our school isn't out quite yet, but I want to keep a schedule too, just in the mornings probably, but we need our routines!

I love schedules! Tomorrow is my last day of them being in school a full day. I'm trying to decided how I'm going to spend it!

Thanks for sharing your ideas. We will be reading and doing a little homework, going to the park, and on a few field trips. I love the quiet time in the middle of the day too. I need the sane time :)

I'm lovin' your schedule and chore charts!

I never do a chore chart because I don't enforce and then it makes me look weak and vulnerable. Then they try to take over.
