I took all the kids to Walmart with me a couple of days ago. Yeah I know, what was I thinking! Joe was sleeping and still on graveyard so I didn't really have a choice and I only needed to get milk and some burn ointment for Eliza. The kids did GREAT! Probably because they had just ate dinner and didn't have much to complain about!
Anyway so the funny part! We're walking down the main aisle in the food department and a guy w/cowboy boots, hat, wranglers the whole get up comes walking up our way. Eliza sees him and he's about 20 feet away and holler, "IT'S A COWBOY, A COWBOY." all the kids turn to look and they all start saying, "IT'S A COWBOY. LOOK MOMMY A COWBOY!!!" He has a huge grin on his face, you can tell that he is liking the attention. He's about 50ish I'd say. So he saunters by and says, "Howdie." Eliza says really loud again, "That cowboy is so COOL! Isn't he COOL mommy!"

And if you think our little adventure is over with that then you are mistaken. We walk up to the check out and I see Mr. Cowboy but the kids don't. Thank heavens I can only imagine what kind of conversation they would have with him if they stood next to him for longer than 10 seconds. Well, Eliza (AGAIN!!! can you tell she is my SOCIAL one???) she says rather loudly AGAIN this time to the woman in front of us, "EXCUSE ME MA'AM" (I don't even know where she got ma'am from?) the lady turns to her and Eliza says, "HI" that was it. The lady giggled a little and said, "She's very polite." I'm thinking at least to strangers... :)
Then Eliza, Yes Eliza again! The same lady in front of us was having some problems with her check out. Okay she wasn't having problems but the checker was! So she called a CSM over and it's Matt. I don't know him personally but I've seen him there a bunch. Rachel you know who I'm talking about. Well after everything is fixed he turns to leave and Eliza sees his HAIR. It's really long. I'd say at least 2 feet down his back maybe a little longer. Eliza takes a gasps and says, yes very loudly, "HE HAS GIRL HAIR."

Her eyes are big and she looks like she's in shock well the checker to the right of us looks at me, thinking that Eliza was talking about him. He has a short buzzed hair cut so I laughed and said no. Then he sees Matt and figures it out. I could see him chuckling while he was checking out his person and then he'd stop for a second and then chuckle a little more.

And LASTLY... (4 should be enough for one half an hour outing) The checker that we had was pretty new and needed a little extra help and the lady that was helping was grandmaish and Eliza looks at her and says, "You're so beautiful!" It was so sweet. She's done this countless times and you should see the women's faces light up when she says it. She never says it about women that are strikingly beautiful or modelish but it's the sweet nice sincerely kind people. I think she sees into their true self or something!
All I have to say is there is never a dull moment when Eliza is around! She has said many a things that I've wanted to duck my head about like when she sees boys with earrings.

Or this one time we were at Safeway there was a guy with just a tank top on and he had a really hairy back and she says, "That BOY'S NAKED!!!" It was seriously hairier than this picture!!!

She doesn't have a volume control either! Another duck your head moment! But really it took me a second to notice the tank top it was really dark green and blended in a little too well with his long hair arms/back etc... Once we walked past a guy that had a go-tee type beard and it was braided and a good 5 inches long this time she says with a scrunched up face, "That's a funny beard." It didn't look like this but it was a fun picture so I just had to put it in here!

WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THAT??? Personally I don't care for it but I can't agree with her and be rude. So I just say, "Oh, yeah that's pretty cool huh!" Ahhhh Eliza.... I'm almost afraid to hear what comes out of her mouth!!!

Oh, Eliza sounds like a real love! I love, love love how she tells certain women how beautiful they are and it seems to be inner beauty that she sees, that is priceless and I hope she never stops making the day of women. You have a gem.
This reminds me of the time that Hannah hadn't figured out how to say fox yet. And she LOVED foxes... Fox And The Hound, ya know? So she would talk about a FOK dog.... ALL of the time....
I got some weird looks.... not to mention gasps, eye rolls, head shakes....
Those are some of my favorite times! I have such a hard time being a "grown up" because I agree or they make me giggle too! I love the crap that flies out of the mouth of kids!
I had a niece & a nephew like your little Eliza (seeing the inside & beautiful souls of people) it's a special trait!
I think its wild you saw that many strange people! LOL!
She is very funny!
That is so funny! I have one kid in particular that says some pretty crazy things, too. Sometimes they crack you up, sometimes you're afraid of what they'll say. They keep you on your toes, one way or another!:)
Life is never dull with little ones is it? While it may be embarrassing at times us Mommies have the best jobs ever!!
You know that is so funny because she isnt my child. I am with you, duck moments. Great stories.
How did the cupcakes turn out? did you have the party yet?
Yeah my kids say funny things too although they wait until we are out of earshot before they say anything. Thankgoodness for that.
:)
It's never a dull moment with kids around no matter where you are. They are just so honest about everything.
I love that kid!! Sounds like she just says outloud what everyone else is thinking...
The "You're beautiful" bit is PRICELESS. I'm sure she makes women's days--weeks all the time!
i seriously thought you asked the cowboy for his picture. which would have been AWESOME!
she sound like my daughter,Joy, funny after the fact, but often totally embarrassing! am i right? love that she tell people they are beautiful.
she is just a doll! Can I have her!? She is going to be really fun to watch grow up!
That is HILARIOUS!!!
You are right.......never a dull moment.......I'm glad you shared the non dull moments with us! :)
So funny!! I can relate to that 'want to crawl under a rock' feeling...oh well!
it's an innocence...
*I wonder what will come out if is she sees me?*
I am so totally crack'n up. If you want an honest answer and one of your kids. One time I was in our back yard in my swimming suit and shorts. My daughter, who was 4, said "oh mommy your legs look.....so, so, yucky! Thanks honey. I have avoided shorts above the knees ever since. Ü
Kids say the darndest things....but just think, if they didn't do or say things like that our life would be so dull....ha!!
That Eliza is a cutie..
Atleast you know what is on her mind! Gotta love kids! and I really love yours!!! :) have a great weekend! love you guys!
Right now I am laughing so hard. I have a child like that. I don't know what to tell you. I have wished at times that the world would open and swallow me. Then there is the times when they tell old grandma's they are beautiful and it is all worth it. She is so sweet. She can come play at my house anytime. When you make it to Utah.
I love her! Oh she's funny!
That reminds me of my niece. She saw a guy with a mow hawk and said, "Look Mom, a chicken head!" we laughed about that for a while.
My most embarrassing was probably the son, around 3 at the time, who noticed a black guy for the first time! He was pointing, asking LOUD questions, and I was mortified! Luckily the guy was nice and got a kick out of the questions (or my discomfort.)
That's so funny about the cowboy. Fun story to read!
Gotta love how kids embarrass us. My oldest said the same thing about guys with long hair. And they always notice when someone has their shirt off. At least we are teaching them modesty.
