The CALL....

I got the CALLLLL!!! The one that we all run away from and try to avoid at all cost. Yesterday Emma answered the phone and said it's for you mom. I took the phone and didn't recognize the phone number on caller id and had to have the man repeat his name a second time before I realized who it was. I think he used his cell phone to disguise himself. I just wonder how many people avoid answering the phone when he calls!!! Yes it was one of the counselors in the bishopric from church calling to have me talk in church. AHHHHHH!!! One of my worst nightmares. I'm so not a public speaker. I get completely nervous and start to talk REALLLLLLY REALLLY fast during my talk and I know that I'm doing it but I can't stop myself, My voice shakes my hands shake and I feel like my mouth is going to dry up and then I pass out. Not really pass out but I really don't like it. I'm finally okay with my lesson's in Relief Society but a TALK in front of the whole ward... The worst part is that it's on the 27th the same day that I have to give my lesson. People are going to be tired of hearing me talk I know I will be tired of hearing myself!

I know HOW you feel, I hate giving talks too! I usually avoid the phone if the caller ID is a member of the bishopric, or at least that use to work, until Troy was called as 1st counselor! Now I just have to avoid answering him when it's his month to conduct {didn't work so well last month though!} Hey at least you got more than 5 days notice! :) Good Luck!

I experienced what you told, along ago. Let me tell you one hint that helped me facing it. At least it worked for me.
Don't look at the audience's eyes. Look a little above their heads.
I did so for years, but now I can look at one's eyes while I speak in front of people.
By the way, I tagged you! ;)

Not my favorite thing to do either! In two previous wards I was asked to speak 4 times in one year! Luckily, I've only had to speak once since living here......

Good luck! I'm not a big public speaker either.

hahhah Before I even read the second sentence to this post, I was guessing that you were talking about getting called to give a talk. Don't worry. I think the majority of us feel just as nervous and will probably be thinking, "better you than me!". You'll do fine. I'll be nervous for you. ;)

You have a beautiful family!

I'm sure you will do great whne you speak. The first couple of times I was very nervous, but it gets easier.

I.HATE.THE.CALL.

Thankfully we have not been asked to speak (OR have a calling !!) in this ward we have been in for a year. Half the yard is student married families... they do a lot of the busy callings... which is great... they have more energy than I do! LOL Let the youngin's work!
