This weekend is our Stake Conference. Today there were meetings all day. Our ward was in charge of the dinner that happens after most of the meetings. I diced up 12 large stinky onions, 12 bundles of celery, filled who knows how many pitchers and cups of water and did so many dishes that my hands no longer smell like nasty onion. If you know me even a little you'll know that I really can't stand onions. The smell alone reminds me of B.O. Seriously not good. When I went into the bathroom to check on one of the kids I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I had mascara blotches under my eyes. Those were some strong onions. Now after saying all that can I just tell you how much fun I had. It was so great getting to know the women in our new ward and it was great working together. It was amazing how much we got accomplished in such a short amount of time. I got to the church at 1:50 pm we started working at 2:00 we were done with the food prep at 4:00 and then did more table setting and were ready to finish last minute stuff like sour cream and things that couldn't be left out for very long. Then we cut up about 15 cakes and put them on plates. Everyone one ate at 6:00. We were doing dishes and cleanup until just after 8:30pm. We fed 350 people plus some of our children. Everything went really smooth. My feet are killing me but I feel so great in everything we got done. There's nothing like service to invigorate the soul. Even the kids were pretty dang good. The Young Women helped babysit so we could get everything done. I'm so grateful for paper plates, cups and plastic silverware. I can't even imagine having to wash plates and silverware for 350+ people like they used to have to do!!!

YES IT Does!! Glad it all went so smoothly!
It's good you can see it as a blessing to do all that, instead of complaining about it like some would do. Good for you!
That's awesome!! What a great thing you're doing :)

Wow, good for you! That sounds like so much work! And twelve onions?! I hate doing one!! You're awesome for taking advantage of the opportunity and for seeing the positive:)
I agree. Service always helps me forget whatever problems I have or think I have.
Glad you had a good time and could meet some nice people.
