♥ The worst couponing day EVER...

OH my word!!! Yesterday was the CRAPPIEST couponing day I have EVER had... ever ever ever!

I've had problems with coupons before whatever no biggy however today topped all! I went to Albertsons and took advantage of their spend $20 and get $5 dollars off... So I did the deal 3 times in a row back to back... The first deal the coupon didn't print... okay weird... the second deal the coupon printed... great... the third deal no printage... So I go up to the Customer Service station and tell the lady that the coupons didn't print. She calls the checker and she tells her that the 1st and 3rd wouldn't print but the 2nd one did... The CS lady looks it over makes sure I had the right amount of stuff blah blah blah... She can't figure it out so she says she has to talk to the manager all pissy and mad that she had to do that. She comes back and tells me that there's nothing she can do because you can only do the deal once per card. I told her that it didn't say anywhere on the add that it was limit one! Plus if that was the case then the 1st one would have worked and the then the 2nd and 3rd wouldn't have. She flips out and says, "I'm not going to argue with you!" I wasn't being snippity YET! Until that moment! Are you kidding me? Just because I state the obvious you freak out! Holy cow so then she goes back a second time to the manager and talks to him. Comes back (I feel like I'm at a car dealership... j/k) and tells me that they'll give me one of the $5 coupons back but that's it, because the other one doesn't qualify. So I ask, "How doesn't it qualify"... She says it's because I used coupons and the amount came to 13.50 and not 20 dollars. So I pointed out the obvious AGAIN! and told her if that was the case then why did it work for the second order which was EXACTLY the same as the one she said wasn't lagit? SHE WAS PISSED!!! She asked what I wanted? So I told her! I want my $10 back that's what I want! She was so mad she stomps over to the phone and calls her manager (she's even talking rude to him)... She says, "She won't take it she wants it ALL!" Finally she leaves again to talk to the manager and comes back all huffy and mad as heck. She says that the manager is going to do this ONE time and ONE time only and never again because they're not qualifying purchases. So she goes and grabs a granola bar box scans it 8 times and out prints a coupon... then does it again... She had told me that it was so much work for her to get the coupons... And let me tell you it was SOOOOO much work! She had to scan the box 8 times and push total and cash it out! The most difficult thing I have ever seen! Can you smell that sarcasm??? So I say, "Great!" I take my coupons, ask for the managers name you know cause he couldn't come talk to me because he was on an important conference call and he could be on it for an hour at least! I got her name also... then I look over and there's this guy with a white shirt on. I smile and ask if he's Tom... Holy crap it's TOM!!! So I asked if I could talk with him. He was very nice! So we stepped aside and chatted. He was really kind and when I was explaining everything to him he GOT IT! So I don't know what the heck she was telling him? He said that I should have gotten the coupons the first time and he wasn't sure why the didn't work. I told him that I didn't want them to get screwed but no where on the paper did it say limit one and I just wanted what add said. Then I explained the attitude of his employee and how she treated me... and that I didn't appreciate it at all. Explained all the above and how she was visiting not so very quietly with her little friend about what a witch I was... Seriously the worst 30 minutes ever! I just wanted to jump over that counter and smack her! Oh man! Anyway the manager said he would take care of her off the floor. However my friend Sharla who was there with me to witness the Customer Service Rep from HECK... proceeded to tell her that she should apologize to me... She seriously cracks me up. The Lady looked at her with the most confused look and asked why? Sharla came uncorked and said, you know a company is built by it's employees and you're ruining that reputation for your company. No one deserves to be treated like that ever! blah blah blah... It was SO FUNNY! The manager was still there and the CS rep just stood there... duhhhhhhh....

but I got my 10 bucks and hopefully that chick got a tongue lashing because she needed it for her little temper tantrum... I mean really don't work customer service if you can't keep it together! Good grief!

Good for sticking up for yourself!! I hate it when they act like the money is personally coming out of their pockets. (And you wonder why people say couponing is not worth it!)

I had a bad experience like this a few weeks back couponing and it made me so frustrated. Blah- sorry you had to deal with that! I hope she got the beat down too!

I can't believe the nerve of some people & there mouths.
I worked retail for a long time & I would never have dreamed of talking to a customer like that.
I was even a head cashier for a long time & None of my girls would ever have talked to people or me that way.
I'm glad you held your ground & got what you went there for.
And I love the way your friend told her how it was.

People like that drive me batty!! What has happened to CS??

I can never do the coupon thing at Albertson's because they are always out of what I want/need to buy. Hate.it.

once (we call her the coke natzi now) a woman at a little store wouldnt let me buy a diet coke with a free lid because all I had was a 20 for the tax on a buck. hehe. you did better than I would have.

Oh I'm so glad you stuck to your guns! That's actually exactly why I stopped couponing! It was such a disaster and the checkers all huffed and puffed when I tried to work the deals! they are jerks! I'm sorry, I swear there is no such thing as customer service anymore!

What a pain!! I'm glad you pointed out the obvious about the second order printing and not the first or third. Machines do make mistakes duh!! That's too bad about the witchy employee. Hope she did get a talking to. What we have to do to save a buck!! (or ten)

I found your blog and am glad I did! This makes me mad! One time I was at Wal-Mart and I had just gotten out of hospital and I I had a load of coupons. They wouldn't take them because they said I had too many. Oh, and they said they were probably counterfeit! I was so humiliated! If I had felt like it I would have seriously told them off! But, I was too embarrassed and in too much pain! No reason of them to treat customers like this! Sorry you had to go through this!

Back in the day customers were treated with respect. That woman should seriously have a good talking to. She is doing Albertson's harm. I'm glad you stuck it out.
