Bad day on the skating rink...

So life's been a little crazy the last couple of weeks. We were walking out to the pick up after church on the 2nd of January and Joe slipped on a patch of ice. When he fell he heard a POP and there was a good amount of pain! He couldn't bend his knee. He went in for a Dr's apt on Monday morning and they sent him over to the Ortho's office the same afternoon. They did an x-ray and found fluid on the knee and set up an appointment for an MRI. They got him set up for the MRI on Tuesday the doctors read it on Wednesday and had an appointment set up to see the Ortho again on Thursday. Joe walked in and they said they set him up for surgery on Friday morning at 5:30am. The night before Joe wanted me to write this on his knee... He knows all the doctors and a lot of the nurses...

So the surgery went well took about an hour but he had some issues with nausea after the surgery so we finally got home just after 3pm. It was a long day but I got a lot of reading done! He hurts a lot the meds don't seem to be working very well however they prescribed him some muscle relaxers on Monday and those have made a big difference.

So now we wait until next week and he goes back in for another appointment so they can tell him how it's doing. He'll be out of work for about 3 or 4 weeks and we hope that work will have some light duty stuff that he can do.

26 staples later, who knows how many stitches, a drilled hole through his knee cap and a tendon stitched back together... He's all fixed up. Now we just wait and see how things go!
